The Best Years

Stars: Charity Shea, Brandon Jay McLaren, Jennifer Miller, Athena Karkanis, Niall Matter, and Randall Edwards.

''The Best Years'' is Canadian teen drama series set in Boston, MA. The show revolves around Samantha Best, who despite bouncing between foster homes for ten years, receives a scholarship to attend the fictional Charles University. The series was created by Aaron Martin, a producer and writer from Degrassi: The Next Generation.

In the pilot episode, it is learned that Samantha's parents passed away ten years prior, causing her to be placed into foster care. Her strong, outgoing personality made it easy for her to make friends; Samantha almost immediately befriends the rest of the show's cast. The newfound friendships and her enrollment in the university become rocky after a drunken accident that causes another student's death, but with luck, honesty, loyalty and determination, her status at the school was saved; her friendships remained rocky for the time being.

The following episodes create strong character development, showing that each character has his extremely negative side as well as positive, while sticking to very realistic storylines. The Best Years has begun focusing on Cynthia, who seems to be mentally unstable, Lee, who is HIV positive and Dawn, who seems to know more about what's going on than anybody else.

So this is my latest obsession.... if you haven't checked it out then you really should if you're a Degrassi fan. Lauren Collins best known for the role as Paige on Degrassi guest starred in the last episode and Cassie Steele (Manny) is set to guest star in the next episode.

OMFG! More reasons why I love you so, my Ashkins<3

I ADORE this show. I have caught every eppie since it's premier. Sam/Devon are complete love. I find this show, so much better then Degrassi to be honest. It's insane. It's also my new obsession. Ahhhh.

Dude, the third Ash is going to join in with you guys (too many of us, dangit)

I love Sam to death dude! Seriously, she's adorable and I find some of the stuff she has to go through (purple dyed in the face. ouch) slightly hilarious.

Devon though...tell me you guys remember him from She's the Man with Channing Tatum and Amanda Bynes? I thought he was awesome then, and I'm stoked that he got his big break.

Yeah, love the show and it's only getting better as it goes. At the beginning the only person that I hated was that nerdy girl that was hanging onto Sam for the first few episodes, that one that went with her as a date to that dance as relish. Yeeeaaah.... so glad she's gone, even though it was sad how she left.

I didn't have much hope in this show being able to fill out a whole hour and keep my interested, but to me surprise most of the time I'm wishing there was more time instead of leaving me hanging every episode. The girl that plays Sam, boy does she do very convincing angry scenes. No wonder she was picked up.

At first I was a Devon and Sam fan, but... Trent and Sam seem to have so much more chemistry. Now as much as I love Brandon.... Devon is annoying me to no end. I dunno... he just seemed so cool and the beginning, but as time wore on... he lost all that. Trent is very intriguing and probably the type of guy I'd probably date.

The Best Years has been cancelled.

I just wanted to alert everyone on how stupid the execs at The N are in their quest to attract a younger target audience.

We already have Disney and TeenNick. This sucks.

I know.... The N message boards have erupted in protest. People who have been watching the network for years feel betrayed that we're getting stuck with pre-teen shows. I heard something that I agree with though on there... they should put those shows on the Noggin Channel with the pre-school shows and leave The N alone.

And who has The N 24/7? I haven't got it, because Dish Network are idiots and fucked up the switch. I'm excited about it though. Although they're canceling Instant Star and The Best Years. Bleh. At least IS is getting one last season and a chance to tie things up.

i don't see how they keep Beyond the Break but cancel the Best Years?! Bullshit.

I have the new N channel. Sucky programming. Old junk and teennick shows in the day with like...degrassi all night. it's boring.
