Mehan, to be fair...the musical is alot better than the movie. I just wanted to put it out there. It's got a decent pop-friendly songbook. Don't judge until you see it.

Carlee, you and I have fairly the same taste in musicals. I'm a Chenowhore myself. I know my pal Alexis on this board is all over Idina Menzel.

Anyways, just to share with you guys...one of my favorite moments from Hairspray.

But yeah, I have a few I hate but the ones I hate most is High School Musical and Legally Blonde. HSM is just whatever, there's too much hype when it comes to that movie. I'll watch it and I will sing along but then I feel stupid I spent my time watching it and Legally Blonde the musical is horrrrrrrrrible. Ick. The movie is sooooooooooooooooooooo much better. I really hate the musical with the a passion. I'm really mean when it comes to HSM and LB..lol.

OMGOSH! Idina Menzel, dude! I'm madly in love with her! Chant knows me too well, I'm CRAZY CRAZY about her! I'm not a lesbian but dude, I drool when I see her. She's an amazing actress, her voice is beautiful and she's just perfect! And she's married to Diggs! Hello! Just perrrrfect! <333333

Anna...maybe I should bring you to the dark side like I'm trying to do with Amanda! It's totally worth it!

Dude, did anyone see Sweeney Todd?! I want to but...I'm scared it might be bad. Like, seriously...

While I'm thinking about it, I wish my dad acted like Elle's Dad (http://youtube.com/watch?v=m0Pz4gx2odo).

Alexis...how would they not make a Mamma Mia! movie with no singing?! Wait a second...it's just dancing right?

I think I may be getting it confused with Light in the Piazza I think...yeah. Mamma Mia! definitely had singing in it.

I am loving Wicked right now! My favourite Elphabas are Kerry Ellis and Willemijn Verkaik. My favourite Glindas are Annaleigh Ashford and Kristin Chenoweth. Unfortunately I can't go to see it here in the UK because Glinda has a COCKNEY ACCENT. She's supposed to be an upper class ditz and she sounds more like an uneducated working class girl from the slums who'd be more at home looking after babies.

POTO one of my favourites too, but I have the same problem that Christine sings with a freaking cockney accent. What is it with cockney accents on the West End? The directors must be insisting upon it because the actresses arent' even from that area, they're northern or even australian!

I've totally spaced on the fact that I didn't even list my own dang favorite musicals. Yes, Mamma Mia has singing in it. Movin' Out is just dancing. And they've been planning on making the Mamma Mia movie for at least three or four years. I remember reading about it a long time ago. Either Michelle Pfiefer or Nicole Kidman was supposed to be in it. I'm pretty sure it was Kidman.

You've seen Jersey Boys!?! I'm so jealous. We've been trying to get tickets and just gave up. Hopefully, I'll see it in a year or so, but now it's almost impossible. We're going to New York in April and we're going to see Chicago, while my little sister and grandfather see Mary Poppins.

Man, now that my theater class and I are finally finished with Pippin, I'm so upset now! I miss singing Glory and having everyone complain about me singing too loud! Man, I fucking love that musical!

*points to the avvie* Need I say more? Cheers for my newly found Wicked obsession. Idina Menzel is totally <333. *lol*

So, my favourite Broadway musicals?

Phantom of the Opera (which I am seeing at the end of the month. Can't wait!!)
Wicked (which a friend and I are hoping to go and see when it comes to Melbourne in July)
Sound of Music
Cats
Lion King
Grease

And I borrowed Rent out on DVD the other day, so I'll have a watch of that and get back to you on what I think.

I'm sure there's a lot more there that I haven't thought of, cause that's a rather short list considering my love of musicals.

Sarah, your icon and banner are truly inspiring and amazing. Between you and Nadya (our resident Glinda) I am Wicked-out!

Just so you know, last year I caught a try out run for Cry-Baby at the Fifth Avenue Theatre in Seattle. I am so excited to report that the musical is finally coming to Broadway! One of my favorite movies becoming a huge hit with some of the same producers from Hairspray. Predictable? Yes. Still excited? Hell yes!

In other news, Kevin Federline aka ex-Mr. Spears will indeed be doing a small stint as the UPS Guy Kyle, Grandmaster Chad, and Paulette's ex-husband (a role originated by Andy Karl who is hot and tempting...but married). How gross. Way to gain some more street cred Legally Blonde. Let's not only do a competition show to find a replacement for Laura Bell hosted by the horsefaced Duff sister but throw in a washed up talentless yuck to boot?

Of course, I can also be talking out of my ass and he can be great. Sue me.

Also, my friend told me about Across the Universe is gonna be a musical on stage now. I dunno if it's gonna happen but if it does, I'm going to see it! Mmmhmmm!

I saw Chicago on Broadway on Sunday night. I have to say that I was kind of dissapointed. The orchestra was right in the middle of the stage and due to that, there were no sets of any kind. But the singing and dancing was really good. I loved the guy who played Fred Casley--he was a really good dancer and his hair was just fun.

Ooo-and I can't wait for Mamma Mia! I'm really looking forward to seeing Dominic Cooper in another movie and I had no idea that Stellan Skarsgard could sing so I'm also excited for that. It looks like it has an amazing cast, so hopefully it will turn out really well.

Dude, I'm currently in a production of Annie and need to escape into other musicals to stop those songs going on repeat in my head. Gah, they're so annoying! *grumbles* I'll be so glad when it's over on May 25th however sad I'll also be.

Next up is Blood Brothers. Yay.

Though there's one I still have yet to see that I really want to and that's Les Mis. I know part of Eponine's song right at the end 'On My Own' and I adore it and am intrigued by the entire musical...please may it come to Manchester soon!

MTV has a new reality show, "The search for Ellen Woods" or something like that. It's a competition for the lead of Legally Blonde! So, yeeeah! I might watch it and it's coming in June or late May? One of the two.

So, I heard they were remaking this but hot damn og a stick... check this out.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v704/stepliana/keira_knightley1_300_400.jpg

Keira Knightley is in talks for the updated remake of My Fair Lady in the works at Columbia Pictures, according to Variety. Though the studio has reportedly declined comment on any casting, the trade paper reports that the actress is in negotiations for the starring role as Eliza Doolittle, the simple Cockney flower girl who is able to transform into a proper lady under the tutelage of Professor Henry Higgins. Duncan Kenworthy (Love Actually, Notting Hill) is producing along with London theatrical producer Cameron Mackintosh. The project is being described as an update, though it will use the musical's original score and retain its 1912 setting. My Fair Lady was first staged in 1956 featuring Julie Andrews and Rex Harrison, and Audrey Hepburn starred with Harrison in 1964's Oscar-winning George Cukor-helmed film. Mackintosh has produced two stage revivals of Lady, the first in 1979, and a second incarnation that opened in the West End in 2001 and is now touring the U.S.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW. I don't know.... speechless.

I totally agree. My Fair Lady is amazing, and having Keira in it would just totally ruin it for me. I don't see what is the big deal about her anyways. :S
