So, Joss Whedon is teaming up with Eliza Dushku to produce a show for Fox's Fall 2008 line-up.
Dushku will be a producer and play Echo, a young woman who is everybody's fantasy. She is one of a group of men and women who can be imprinted with personality packages, including memories, skills, language and even muscle memory, by a company/place called the Dollhouse.
Whedon ranks the character as one of his best, saying "she's absolutely the essence of strength boiled down. She's at her strongest when she's at her least powerful. She has an extraordinary tenacity. "

I know there are a lot of BTVS/Whedon fans here, so I figured I'd post this. I'm looking forward to seeing Eliza on TV again. A lot could change between now and 2008, but we'll see how it goes.

This is so very exciting and I can not wait to see this. I am a hardcore Eliza Dushku fan, I think she is absolutly amazing.
And Joss, don't get me started. HE IS A FUCKING TV GOD. Everything he does is gold. This can not be anything else than super brilliant. :)
I am very concerned though since it will be broadcasted by FOX. FOX SCREW THINGS UP BIG TIME. We can not be all too happy yet, for all we know it could get a few episodes on a lousy timeslot and never get a fanbase which dooms the show. >_<
Thanks tons for posting this. I am looking forward to this!

Agree with the first two parapraphs Sofia said. Eliza and Joss <3
Fox? FOX???? It's going to get cancelled. Fox hates everything decent on TV. Not good. Not good at all. Let's hope I dont' get invested in it. But it just sounds so fantastic I can't help but think I will.

According to the article, it only has a 7-episode commitment so far, but we'll have to see what happens. With the writers strike possibly happening and a season and a half of other shows still to go, things could change, but I'm hoping something good happens. Not all good Fox shows have been canceled. Okay, so House is like, the only one, but we can hope.

Prison Break was another success.
Anyways... yeah. I'm excited about this too. The concept is interesting and Eliza is really awesome. Plus it's Joss... so you can count on it to be a cult favorite at least.
Meh... I don't even watch Fox anymore, unless it's to watch The Simpsons or Family Guy. So... I hope it works out.

Just a little update on Dollhouse:
Joss Whedon is letting his obsession with Battlestar Galactica get the best of him — and I couldn't be happier about it!
Whedon has tapped Galactica stud Tahmoh Penikett (aka Helo) to play Eliza Dushku's "twisted romantic foil" in Dollhouse, a spokesperson for Twentieth Television confirms. Also joining the Dollhouse ensemble are Fran Kranz (CBS' Welcome to the Captain), Aussie actress Dichen Lachman and relative newcomer Enver Gjokaj.
Penikett's character, Paul Smith (originally named Paul Ballard), is described as an FBI agent who becomes obsessed with both the urban myth that is Dollhouse and its most recognizable inhabitant, Echo (Dushku).
Kranz, meanwhile, has been cast as Dollhouse's nerdy programmer Topher Brink, the dude responsible for imprinting the dolls. Lachman, who starred in the Australian series Neighbours, will play Sierra, a Doll similar to Echo, only not as self aware. And last but not least, Gjokaj will play Echo's buddy Victor, a handsome Doll who is childlike when inactive and everything from Errol Flynn to a young De Niro when he's active.

So Anna told me about this indirectly for something in HH and I was watching the trailer. I'll admit, I like the concept and I think this is going to possibly be one of the shows I watch if school isn't too much :).

I didn't even know this existed. *thanks Nay silently for posting here* I love Eliza Dushku and Joss Whedon is God! So, I'm sure this will be interesting. So far the promos have looked good and I'm looking forward to the pilot. It seems different and has something else going on for it. I don't know most of the other cast members, but.....it's Eliza Dushku, so I'll just go with that. haha
